Education:
A.A. (History, honors): Sacramento City College, 2010
B.A. (History, honors): UC Davis, 2013
Ph.D. (Geography): UC Davis, 2021 (in progress)
Personal / Professional Interests:
I am the proud son of Mexican immigrants who have hoed weeds, sorted tomatoes, wept, and fought for my sister and I to go to college.
My journey consists of trying to make sense of –and write about– the ways in which the ecological practices of monopoly capital are embodied by communities across rural geographies. My PhD dissertation will document and examine perceptions of environmental risks in a small, farm-worker community in northern California (see research). One day I’ll teach Chicana/o Studies courses about environment and health.
And, of course… I think Langston Hughes put it best:
…I like to eat, sleep, drink, and be in love.
I like to work, read, learn, and understand life.
